But as I listened on John spoke some truth to me that made a real impact.  He told of his struggles with anxiety, panic attacks, and the onset of PTSD.  I find myself in the depths of all three.  Hearing another person so accurately describe how I currently feel is heartening.  It doesn’t feel abnormal and it seems surmountable.

So thank you, John, for being so forthcoming and honest.  Your show is ostensibly about culture and entertainment, but it has — at least with me — made a positive impact on my state of mind.  At least for today!

Whoops! I accidentally edited your post while trying to respond and some of it got deleted. Sorry about that. We’ll see if we can restore it. Anyway, here’s my response:

You’re welcome, and hang in there! Anxiety and panic are totally manageable, if not completely curable. A lot of advances have been made in the medical community over this affliction, as it’s so pervasive. You’re not alone. There are some good apps out there as well.

Again, hang in there and remember that “ultimately” we’re all in this thing called life/death together. Can’t be all that bad. 😉 Thinking about it this way always provides me comfort. Maybe it will for you too.

p.s. I know you’re post started with talking about not being able to sleep, listening to the DMT podcast, and relating to my story about panic attacks, anxiety, and PTSD, as you’re currently suffering through the same thing. Hope I got that right, as I can’t seem to retrieve the original. Still learning how this admin system works.

Obviously a Russian hacker sent to twist my anxiety narrative!

Seriously, though, thanks for the encouraging words.  As you likely well know, things aren’t actually bad.  They just get viewed through an internal lens of badness.  It does help to think of it in a grander view rather than a helplessly subjective perspective.

Just wanted to tell you guys that when I’m really losing it, I always come back to you guys and your podcast to help me get some sanity back. Really, please keep it up. Oh. And thank you both. 🙂

And another note. I too struggle with PTSD, anxiety, panic attacks and the rest of it. It definitely doesn’t help to make life any easier when everyone seems to be so stresses out right now. Yesterday, I got stuck in looking at the Olympics Closing Ceremony in 1984 in Los Angeles where a UFO lands. I feel like I’m creating this stuff sometimes. Then I found other information on some attacks in 1942 in Los Angeles, with very different stories. Wondering if you guys have seen this or remember this. Maybe tell me I’m totally insane. Just let me know if that’s what’s up.

Wow, Katfugue, I’m so happy to know we add some small measure of solace to your life.

I hadn’t heard about the Olympics UFO until now, but I found this article:
    http://articles.latimes.com/2009/aug/12/sports/sp-wolper-olympics12

We are well aware of the 1942 Battle of Los Angeles, though!
