OK first of all, “Robosexual” is definitely going to be the name of my band’s first EP… I just need to start a band first.
I definitely have an opinion on this. I trust you guys are familiar with the idea of a Turing test and, like me, you probably know one or two “human” individuals who would fail to pass. My point is that what’s really the difference between loving a robot and a person? You can never really know what’s inside of someone; the thing you think of as a person is just a narrative you construct in your head. And if you don’t believe in a soul anyway, there’s even less of a difference: aren’t we all just meat-robots?
I have to say she makes some good points, although I don’t know that she’s right about robots being incapable of violence (looking at you, HAL). Values are all to some extent arbitrary products of their times; this kind of thing will probably become increasingly common. Live and let live, I guess; I can never see what most people see in each other anyway.
