Another thing worth noting…
I noticed that Julian Assange had a sticker over the webcam on his notebook. I’ve seen that a lot lately. Even in candid photos of politicians and celebs. The article photograph will have nothing to do with privacy, hacking or surveillance and I’ll notice that their Macbook has tape over it or something. It’s not paranoia. It’s legitimate concern. And it raises the question about how concerned the citizenry should be.
Here is a great example of an inadvertent shot of a webcam being covered:
This one belongs to Milo Yiannopoulos (the Trump-loving-conservative-homosexual). Notice that he is simply requesting some technical assistance with his Macbook — the post has nothing to do with privacy concerns. Most off-putting is that there are 7k comments and I scrolled through a ton. I didn’t see a single comment mentioning the webcam being covered. Has our lack of privacy become so normalized that we don’t do a double-take at the sight of a purposefully covered webcam?!
We’re so screwed.
