Great stuff, Adam and John!
I’m so glad that you guys brought up the comparison between this doc and Resurrect Dead. I thought the same thing as I was watching. It was as if the focus moved from crop circles to the psychology/sociology of those involved, much like Resurrect Dead did.
And for the reasons that others above have mentioned (lack of data, lack of detailed explanation), I really began to question whether the entire doc was a charade. I mean, I can’t imagine investing more than my time in watching this documentary and they’re telling me that they had legitimate investors funding their crop circle toy??? With real money??? What details and/or data was used to acquire investors? I simply can’t imagine a serious investor throwing money at this endeavor. The idea with no data or explanation is sort of insane (only sort of).
Forget the fact that Nicola seemed largely unqualified to oversee the buildout.
With all of the criticism I should note that I did enjoy the documentary. I just kept getting the sense that it was semi-staged, much like I felt as I watched Justin Duerr of Resurrect Dead. I kept feeling as though they were punking me… and that they had just made everything up — including their CAD designs.
